Happy New year everyone! 2009 is already shaping up to be a great year in the Smartphone world. As every company not named Apple is gearing up for application store sales, I bring you my list of 10 predictions. And these predictions are very mild, not earth shattering. Basically, realistic predictions that I can brag about in one year.
- Palm will release a new OS meant for a super slick new device: a Palm touch screen iPhone killer
- The Blackberry Storm will miss all projected sales numbers
- Apple will add cut, copy & paste to the iPhone
- Microsoft will continue to have little presence in the Smartphone world
- HTC will solidify itself as the top Smartphone OEM for Android and Windows Mobile, and represent the only true competitor to the iPhone
- Motorola will fail to launch a successful Android based smartphone
- Samsung will launch a successful Android based smartphone
- Rumors will be flying about iPhone Nanos and sliders again this time next year
- The Android Market will have no more than 20% of the sales action of the Apple App Store
- RIM (Blackberry) and Apple (iPhone) will end 2009 as the top two sellers of Smartphones (repeat of 2008)
